U-Sivananda Yoga uvela emndenini weSwami Sivananda, njengoba umfundi wakhe uSwesternus Vishnudevananda enikezwa entshonalanga ngasekupheleni kwawo-1950, okwenza lo mkhuba wokusebenza ube yingxenye ebalulekile yomsindo wokuqala we-yoga ngaphandle kwe-India.
USivananda (1887-1963) wayaziwa kakhulu eNdiya kuma-1930, lapho eqala i-Ashram eRishikesh. Wayedlule waba udokotela osebenzayo.
Ngenxa yokuthi wayekhuluma kahle isiNgisi futhi wabhala izivumelwano eziningi ngesiNgisi, wafunwa ngabafundi basentshonalanga ababefisa ukufunda i-yoga ne-Vedanta. Wasungula i-Divine Life Society ngo-1936 ukuze ahlele futhi asakaze izimfundiso zakhe.

U-Savasana uvala iklasi. Iziphakamiso eziyisisekelo ezingu-12 zikhethiwe ngokucophelela futhi zihlanganisa ukuguquka, ukubuyisela emuva, ukugoba phambili, ukuguqulwa, ukulinganisa, nokukhishwa kwesikhumba. Okuncane kunakho konke, ngamanye amagama. I-poses yenziwe kahle kancane futhi ilawulwa ukululaza nokuqinisa umzimba kanye nokuvula ama-chakras . Njengoba abafundi beba nezici eziyisisekelo ezingu-12, ukuhlukahluka kungafakwa.
